Bookings procedure and policy
An advance booking is recommended to secure space, preferably supported by email to avoid confusion. Stena Line does not carry forward bookings to the following day unless specifically instructed to do so. In such instances, all request are dependent on space availability.
For regular weekly flows of business, we would be delighted to arrange allocation of pre-booked space, which would need confirmation no later than 11.00 on the day of intended departure. If travelling on Weekends, confirmation is needed no later than 15.00 on Friday.
Special handling and Dangerous goods
All vehicles intending to transport Dangerous goods, abnormal loads or other specialised cargoes (i.e. animals) should provide at least 24 hours notice to the above mentioned email address. Stena Line reserve the right to decline to carry any such cargo that has not been pre-advised.
- Dangerous goods class 1, class 5.1 and 5.1, class 2 (flammable) have to picked up on the day of arrival (limited quantity excluded). This also applies on weekends.
Lift On / Lift Off Traffic
Stena Line only operate a “Roll on / Roll off” service for unaccompanied trailers and driver accompanied traffic. We do not provide “LO / LO” facilities for unaccompanied containers.
General guidelines for shipment of special units (chassis/out of gauge)
- The unit must have enough fuel to be handled at the ship and in the ports
- The breathalyzer must be disconnected before handling in the port
- The battery must to be in good condition
- Drivers instructions (in English) must travel with the unit, otherwise handling cannot be guaranteed
- The unit must have fully functional brakes
- Non-compliance with the above guidelines could lead to additional costs, which will be charged to the customer
