What will change?
To find updated information on ICS2, visit our dedicated landing page.
Instead of sending the ENS directly to the customs office in the country of entry, all member countries will transmit the details to a centralised EU system, the Shared Trader Interface. Moreover, additional information will need to be provided within the ENS. The primary objective of ICS2 is to enhance the safety, security, and supervision of goods entering the EU.
What does this mean for you?
Once ICS2 is implemented, you will need to provide additional details in the ENS.
In addition to the existing requested data, you will be obligated to provide the following information per consignment (highlighted in bold):
- Customs status
- Consignor:
- Stena Line will use the details of the company who made the booking with us as consignor as default in the ENS.
- If you do not want your company information to be used as consignor and wish to change this, then you can do so within the ENS yourself.
- Buyer & Seller:
- Name and address details (mandatory)
- EORI (optional)
- HS code: 6 digits (mandatory)
- Goods description (optional)
- Package type, number of colli and gross weight
- Veterinary: yes/no
This means that once ICS2 has been implemented, the following will need to be provided in the ENS:
- Consignor details – these are the details we hold in your account already
- Buyer & Seller details
- HS code
When will this be implemented?
We are currently in a transition period where we are working on obtaining all relevant information and data and getting all systems ready. Currently, the deadline to go live is the 4th of December 2024, but we aim to be ready at the end of November 2024.
The exact implementation date will be communicated once confirmed by the relevant authorities.

The Buyer field will replace the Receiver field in the ENS.
Seller Data
The seller is the one who sells or agrees to sell the goods to the buyer. If the products are imported without a purchase agreement, the owner’s details must be provided instead.
The Seller field will replace the Sender field in the ENS.
