As well as the obvious evidence, like our newbuilding plans, this year we have been hard at work behind the scenes to improve our offering to you and prepare for the future, so that we can continue to give you the best service. Here are just some of the highlights of this year and next:
- The acquisition of Stena Vinga, to complement the Gothenburg – Frederikshavn route, and the return of Stena Nordica to the Karskrona- Gdynia route, two vessels that will enhance the service offered to freight customers on these routes.
- Three E Flexer class vessels are, as previously mentioned, under construction in the Avic Shipyard. These vessels have been designed with the latest energy saving technology, large freight capacity and the highest levels of comfort.
- On the Irish Sea we have increased freight capacity on our Liverpool – Belfast route and set new records for the highest number of freight units ever shipped between Holyhead and Dublin.
- Three new vessels were introduced on the North Sea, adding a much needed increase in capacity – another development to meet our customer’s demands!
Safety always comes first, followed closely by our unfaltering commitment to producing class leading reliability and punctuality. We know that being able to rely on us is important to you, and because of this it is equally important for us. Creating operational excellence and always sailing on time also saves bunker, thereby reducing our environmental footprint and delivering on our customer promise.
In Stena Line the digital transformation continues. Our new easy to use online freight booking portal will be delivered during the coming year, making booking with us even more efficient. In our terminals we are developing solutions to enable even faster drop off and collection of unaccompanied trailers, saving you time and money. We aim to make working with us as easy as possible!
Among a lot of plans for 2019 we have sustainability at heart and a central part of our efforts are focused on finding alternative non-fossil fuels as a replacement for traditional fuels. This year we successfully tested our methanol ferry, Stena Germanica and the hybrid battery power on bow thrusters on Stena Jutlandica.
Now, at the end of this year when most of us will be celebrating the spirit of Christmas, we would like to wish you and your families the very best. Thank you for your support in 2018. We look forward to doing business with you again in 2019.
