Covid-19 has been extremely challenging for Stena Line and has had a huge impact on most of our routes. For that reason, it is good to see that freight volumes between Sweden and Denmark have been less effected by the pandemic and that we have handled the same volumes in the first six month as we did last year.
From 1 July we are operating the Gothenburg-Frederikshavn route with two vessels and a schedule optimised for our freight customers. Stena Danica is replacing Stena Vinga, meaning there will be additional capacity during the coming months.
At the beginning of February we started to operate our new route from Halmstad to Grenaa. The routes strengthen the ability of our freight customers to reach markets in a more efficient way. Additionally, the Halmstad area can offer a wide range of value-added services related to cargo handling as well as rail connections. We are very pleased with the support we have received from our freight customers – volumes are above expectations, although there are still many opportunities to explore. Our ambition is to increase the capacity on the Halmstad-Grenaa route over time.
