More capacity on the Europoort / Harwich and the Europoort / Kllingholme services from the start of 2018
Our market is changing and our customers expect us to stay agile and respond to market developments. Here is what is happening on the North Sea and how we will improve our services to meet your requirements for 2018 and beyond.
We have completed the new berth and linkspan in Rotterdam and we can already see improved operations. We still expect to operate from two berths from the end of 2017. The second berth will make it possible for us to adjust the timetable between Rotterdam and Killingholme so that our customers will have more time to take the early westbound departure.
Furthermore we have transferred a large number of trailer movements from the Hoek van Holland services to Rotterdam allowing us to offer additional capacity for our customers’ driver accompanied units. We continue to offer beneficial conditions on our off peak sailings.
We also see an increased demand for intermodal connectivity at Rotterdam and we are planning to put even more emphasis on the rail-ferry concepts in collaboration with our customers.
Brexit has prompted preparations for a new era in trade between Europe and the United Kingdom in 2019. We are talking to all stakeholders and we have highlighted our customers’ concerns to the authorities involved. We are preparing for the outcome of each scenario, whether a soft or a hard Brexit. We will be in touch with you in the coming months to discuss developments and planned actions. Business has to continue as smooth as possible and we highly appreciate your support.
