Documents needed to travel with Stena Line

General information

If you have cargo on the unit you need to bring your cmr or loading document.

We also need information about the unit, as Unit number/registration number, length/width/height.

If the unit is accompanied we also need information about the driver.

On some routes personal id or passport is needed.

Irish Sea

You need to wear high visibility vest.

Nordic countries

On the routes between Denmark and Sweden and Denmark and Norway, the identification documents listed below are approved for check-in and travel for citizens within the EU/EEA. For travelers from outside the EU/EEA, passport is the only valid document, this also applies to children.

Passport with MRZ code
National identity card of EU Standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by a national authority within the EU/EEA
For Nordic citizens, it is valid with a driving license issued in a Nordic country

Please note that Norwegian bank cards are not guilty as identification document on Stena Line’s routes to/from Sweden

This applies to all passengers but children under 16 traveling with parent/parents is excepted and can travel on their parents ID:s.

To and from the continent

One of these documents is needed on the routes between Germany and Sweden, Poland and Sweden, Latvia and Sweden, Germany and Latvia:

Passport with MRZ code;
National identity card of EU Standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by a national authority within the EU/EEA

The document is needed to be able to check-in and travel. This applies to all passengers, including children.
