Supporting green ports
Stena Line offers a unique connection of rail and sea logistics from Germany to Sweden. Working with long term commitments and supporting models for rail ferries, we aim to connect Europe with sustainability in focus.
The Blue Supply Chains project follows various approaches to decarbonise port operations to set up green transport chains:
- Evaluation and piloting of measures for the further electrification of handling equipment
- Strategies for providing, handling and storing alternative fuel
- Promotion of more environmentally friendly transport chains in the hinterland, with a focus on the development of combined transport
As part of the project, Stena Line will focus on the rail ferry connection between Rostock and Trelleborg. The goal is to reduce the CO2 impact of transport chains by promoting green multimodal transports onboard the rail ferries. Thus, Stena Line works together with the project partners Port of Rostock, Port of Trelleborg, Modility and SGKV to promote the modal shift from road to rail in maritime transport chains.
